FORMER Delhi University vice-chancellor Deepak Pental was scheduled to chair a session at a conference on agri-biotechnology Tuesday. However, he couldn’t make it. The reason was that he was sent to Tihar Jail Tuesday in a case of alleged plagiarism of research work, before being released later in the night on the High Court’s direction. On Wednesday, Pental landed up at the concluding session of the conference and expressed regret for having to be at “some other place” Tuesday. If that weren’t enough, a visibly composed academic mentioned to the audience about how he was all over the news — even if not for the right reason.
