An 84-year-old woman,Biro Devi, was beheaded, while her daughter-in-law,Pushpa Devi (54),was stabbed multiple times by a group of unidentified persons who barged into their residence in Kaithal area today

An 84-year-old woman,Biro Devi, was beheaded, while her daughter-in-law,Pushpa Devi (54),was stabbed multiple times by a group of unidentified persons who barged into their residence in Kaithal area today. Pushpa was rushed to Kaithal civil hospital from where she was referred to PGIMER,Chandigarh. Her condition is stated to be critical.

According to the police, the incident took place in the afternoon, when only Biro Devi and Pushpa were at home. Pushpa’s husband,Satparkash, who runs a trading company in Kaithal’s grain market was at his shop. Satparkash said he received a phone call from his wife who “murmured” that somebody has barged into their residence and attacked them.

He told the police that it took him 10-15 minutes to reach home, where he found his mother lying in a pool of blood and his wife crying in pain with stab injuries around her neck and other body parts. “Satparkash took his wife and mother to the civil hospital, where his mother Biro Devi was declared dead on arrival. Considering Pushpa’s critical condition, she was referred to the PGIMER. Motive behind the brutal attack is not yet clear. Robbery, prima facie, does not appear to be a convincing motive since nothing has gone missing from the house. Also, both the women were wearing gold jewellery, which were left intact. The accused might be having some personal enmity with the family, which is yet to be ascertained,” said Inspector Ashwani Kumar,Station House Officer,Kaithal.

The Kaithal police have registered a case against unidentified persons on charges of criminal trespass and murder.
