Deputy CM seeks Rs 800 cr from Centre

Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,on Friday,said that due to deficit rainfall in the state,the government had urged the Centre to release Rs 800 crore in relief for the farming community.

FAZILKA: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal,on Friday,said that due to deficit rainfall in the state,the government had urged the Centre to release Rs 800 crore in relief for the farming community. He also said that the chief minister had personally called on Union Power Minister to allocate 1,000MW of additional power for agri-sector. Sukhbir was at the first anniversary celebration of Fazilka on Friday evening.

Sidhu holds border security meet

AMRITSAR: Expressing concern over seizures of large number of heroin and other contraband,Amritsar BJP MP Navjot Singh Sidhu,on Friday,chaired a meeting of senior officers of the police,customs and BSF along with Industry representatives. Sidhu said that it was the need of the hour to beef up and strengthen the security infrastructure at Amritsar Rail Cargo Complex,Attari Rail and at the integrated check post. A security dossier on Amritsar border will be presented to Minister of Home Affairs P Chidambram.
