The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has started a probe into the alleged sexual abuse of inmates of Apna Ghar shelter home in Rohtak,Haryana. A case has been registered against the caretaker Jaswanti Devi and her son-in-law Jai Bhagwan. As per available information,the CBI had registered a case on Thursday.
Soon after registering a case of alleged rape,wrongful confinement,criminal intimidation and relevant sections of immoral trafficking Act and Bonded Labour Act,a team of CBI officials from Chandigarh reached the site,agency sources said.
CBI sources said they collected the FIR,in which the shelters home caretaker Jaswanti and her son-in-law Jai Bhagwan are named,from the local police station and relevant documents related to the case. They said that the CBI team also spoke to people living in the locality about the shelter home and will also be meeting inmates of the shelter home who were allegedly abused.
The Punjab and Haryana High Court had taken serious note of the delay by the Central Government to decide on Haryana governments request to take over the investigation regarding Rohtak shelter home. Two days ago,the high court had given a one week deadline for the Ministry of Personnel to respond on the request.
