A hawker and his two sons allegedly stabbed three other hawkers killing two of them in front of the Vishrambaug Wada on the crowded Bajirao Road, around 1.30 pm on Wednesday. Police have arrested Dattatraya Ramchandra Tambde (55) and his sons Sagar (22) and Ghanshyam (24),all residents of Sadashiv Peth.
The deceased have been identified as Sachin Maruti Kundle (35) of Guruwar Peth and his brother-in-law Sagar Sambhaji Lahare (27) of Dhankwadi.
According to the police, the incident was the fallout of a dispute among the hawkers over space. Senior inspector Arjun Sakunde said Tambde used to sell fruits in front of Vishrambaug Wada. He had gone for the palkhi procession to Pandharpur for a few day. Meanwhile,Kundle and Lahare set up their stall at the same spot. When Kamble returned,he found Kundle had taken over this place, Sakunde said.
On Wednesday afternoon,Tambde had a fight with Kundle,Lahare and Kailas Sunil Chavan (30),also a hawker, the police said. Tambde asked them to vacate the spot but they refused. Tambde then called his sons, said an officer. The trio assaulted Kundle,Lahare and Chavan, the officer added.
