One big reason the RSS decided to leave its khaki shorts for brown trousers was former Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi’s attack on the Sangh Parivar this January. Or so believes Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad.
A day after taking on the Sangh in Lucknow over its dress code change, Lalu made another nano-assault on the RSS Monday. The RJD chief tweeted: “Rabri Deviji ke ek tarkpurn aakramak bayan ne matra do mahine mein RSS ko half pant se full pant karne par majboor kar diya (One aggressive and rational remark by Rabri Devi made the RSS change its uniform from shorts to trousers in just two months)”.

At a party function in Patna in January, Rabri Devi had said, “It does not behove the elders of RSS to wear shorts.”
Lalu had said in Lucknow Sunday, “We will make the RSS wear shorts again after the 2019 elections… they have switched over to full pants since the BJP has come to power.”
JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said: “The RSS’s change of uniform will have no significance because the Sangh continues to evade the real questions.”
