THE Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed on Wednesday said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been more focused on development of the state than his predecessors including late Indira Gandhi.

“More fulfilled,” he said when asked whether he thinks that his expectations from the Centre have not been fulfilled. “Though my party men say no, but I have told them about it from day one,” he added.

“I am satisfied with Prime Minister Narendra Modi…He is totally focused on Jammu Kashmir,” Mufti Sayeed said. “I have seen many prime ministers including Indira Gandhi, Rajiv Gandhi and even V P Singh, but he is so much focused that he had a video conference with state chief secretary twice to enquire about the progress of work on Kishanganga hydel power project in the Valley.

When asked about his known stand of holding talks with Pakistan and separatist leaders so as to address the external and local dimensions concerning Kashmir, chief minister said, “Let us first do our job by uniting ourselves.” Referring to both PDP and BJP, he said that “the present challenge before us is to keep the two mass-based parties together and then implement our agenda of good governance and development’’. The political process can follow thereafter, he added.
