Kerala: Madrasa teacher, 2 sons held for abusing children

The arrests followed an alert to the police from authorities at a regular school, where the children studied during the day time.

A MADRASA teacher and his two sons have been arrested on charges of subjecting minor students to unnatural sex at Chavakkad in Thrissur district. V Muhammed Saini, 55, and his sons Suhail, 22, and Mithilaj, 18 were arrested Saturday. Later, a court remanded them in judicial custody.

According to police, Saini and his sons stayed at the madrasa and allegedly used to exploit the children who attended night classes. “The father and sons allegedly abused many children over the years. We have recorded the statement of three children. We expect more children to come forward to speak about the abuse,” a police source said.

The arrests followed an alert to the police from authorities at a regular school, where the children studied during the day time. Teachers at this school had noticed behavioural changes in the abused children.
