Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi
BJP Saturday hit back at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for saying that his party would back GST Bill provided its conditions were met. BJP said Congress’s “negative mindset” was delaying the key tax reforms legislation.
“Instead of playing anti-development, anti-poor politics, Rahul Gandhi should tell the country up front whether his party supports the Bill or not,” BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said.

He said Congress leadership “deliberately disrupted” Parliament to stall GST because it was “never serious”. The draft Bill prepared by UPA was opposed by several Congress-ruled states, while the draft GST Bill prepared by BJP was “mostly acceptable to most states”, Sharma said.
Reacting to Rahul’s criticism of the government for allegedly mishandling the Pathankot attack, he said, “a non-serious half-politician like Rahul Gandhi should introspect before speaking on national security matters”.
“Rahul was holidaying in Europe at the time of attack. Making non-serious statements bereft of facts on serious subjects is not good. He should introspect before speaking,” he said. He said Rahul was trying to divert attention from “his bail in the Rs 5,000 crore National Herald case”.
