Can’t forgive Indrani: Sheena email

SUPPORTING ITS case of Indrani Mukerjea being ‘an ambitious’ woman who kept her ‘real relationship’ with Sheena and Mekhail Bora under wraps, the CBI has attached the statements of Sheena’s friends in its supplementary chargesheet submitted on Tuesday. “In 2002, one morning, Sheena showed me a newspaper in which a photograph of Indrani and Peter was published. After going through the news, Sheena started weeping. Sheena and Mekhail were aware that Indrani was their mother… I came to know that Indrani introduced Sheena as her sister in her circle in Mumbai,” Sheena’s friend from Guwahati has stated in her statement accessed by The Indian Express. “Sheena’s marriage with Rahul would have eventually made people in Mumbai circle aware that Sheena is in fact Indrani’s daughter…,” it adds. Her friend states, “I have never seen Sheena or heard about her taking any drugs and other pschotropic (substances). I had never seen her in a fit of rage or getting violent”.

An almost 500-page supplementary chargesheet was filed by the CBI against former INX news channel founder Peter Mukerjea on February 16.

It was this friend who had informed Mumbai Police about the real relationship between Sheena and Indrani. “My husband saw the news of Indrani’s arrest on TV news channel and intimated me. Since certain facts were not correct about the relationship of Sheena with Indrani, I contacted some senior officers of the Mumbai Police and told them about the actual relationship between Sheena and Indrani,” her statement reads.

It was this friend who had also advised Rahul to involve the police when Sheena had gone missing. “Rahul told me that he had dropped Sheena at National College in Bandra as she had to meet Indrani for dinner. Since then, Sheena could not be located. On Rahul’s request I contacted my cousin in Delhi who is an advocate with the Supreme Court. He suggested that Rahul could lodge a complaint with the police… I accordingly communicated the advice to Rahul. The police did not register a complaint as it allegedly did not make for a case as Sheena was last known to be with her mother,” her statement reads.
