    ED attaches assets of Raina, Dhawan in betting app money laundering case

    The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday said it has attached movable and immovable assets belonging to former cricketers Suresh Raina and Shikhar Dhawan in connection with a money laundering case linked to an online betting platform. According to ED, assets worth Rs 11.14 crore were attached, including mutual fund investments worth approximately Rs 6.64 crore held in the name of Raina and immovable property valued at Rs 4.5 crore in the name of Dhawan. In September, ED recorded the statements of Dhawan, Raina, Yuvraj Singh, and Robin Uthappa in the case linked to 1xBet. Read more

    Assam CIC steps down over brother’s role in Zubeen Garg’s death

    Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta, the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) of Assam, has announced that he is stepping down from the post, citing “moral grounds.” Mahanta, a retired IPS officer who had previously served as the Assam Director General of Police (DGP) is the brother of Shyamkanu Mahanta, the organiser of the Northeast Festival in Singapore, for which Assamese singer Zubeen Garg had travelled when he died in September. Shyamkanu is one of seven people who have been arrested following Zubeen’s death on September 19. Read more

    Trump reacts to Mamdani’s victory speech, says NYC Mayor-elect must work with Washington

    US President Donald Trump described New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s victory speech as a “very angry speech” and reminded him that he should seek a fresh relationship with Washington. Following his historic win on Tuesday, Mamdani directly addressed President Trump and said that he has “four words for him: Turn the volume up”, before warning the US President against targeting New York City. Trump had previously threatened to cut funds to New York if ‘Communist’ Mamdani was elected. Read more

    Mexican President presses charges after being groped on the street

    Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum filed charges against a man who harassed her near Mexico’s National Palace, saying the assault reflected the daily reality faced by women across the country. A video circulating online showed a man appearing to touch Sheinbaum and lean in for a kiss as she walked from the National Palace to the Education Ministry on Tuesday. Sheinbaum pushed his hands away and continued walking. Police later arrested the man, Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada said. Read more

    Google Maps to get new features, including hands-free navigation and accident-prone area alerts

    Navigation using Google Maps is set to get even more convenient with new features being rolled out in India soon. These include Gemini’s conversational AI capabilities directly integrated into the Maps app, enabling more natural, hands-free interactions, as well as India-specific features such as accident-prone area alerts and easier metro ticket management via Google Wallet.
