Hours after Amboli Police booked three men,who were arrested for the April 7 murder of Delhi resident Arun Tikku (62) at his sons apartment in Andheri (West) in a suspected kidnapping case, the Mumbai Police on Friday arrested Simran Sood, said to be small time model,in the kidnapping case.
On Thursday,Vijay Palande alias Karan Sood, who is allegedly a relative of Simran,Ganesh Shinde alias Dhananjay Shinde and Manoj Jadhav alias Manoj Gajkosh were booked for kidnapping 28-year-old Karan Kakad, who is from Delhi and has been living in Mumbai for the past one year.
Simran is also suspected to be the one who introduced Palande to Arun Tikkus son Anuj. The murder is being probed by Oshiwara police.
According to police,Rita Kakad from Delhi had approached Amboli police on March 10,claiming her son Karan Kakad had gone missing since March 6.
When photographs of the arrested men were published in the media after the Tikku murder,Kakads elder son Hanish identified Palande, whom he recognised from CCTV grab from a mall that whosed Palande with Karan and another person, police said.
Police are now trying to find whether the four booked for kidnapping him may have even murdered him,and how many other victims may have been targeted by Palande and his associates in similar fashion.
According to Hanish (32) an estate agent in Delhi, police had registered a missing complaint in the matter. Karan had been staying in Mumbai for the past one year at a rented flat in Oberoi Springs Tower in Andheri (West). He worked for a pre-production company as a co-ordinator.
According to Hanish,a few months ago,Karan had asked him for money to buy a car so that he could show it off in the city to get finances to start his own production company. Hanish had then sent Rs15 lakh to Karan to buy a second-hand BMW car.
Hanish said Karan had called him up and told him he was on his way to meet a politician with someone he identified as Palande, who was allegedly his neighbour Simrans brother. Karan had told Hanish that the politician was a contact of Palande and would help him get Rs 2.5 crore.
When I called on Karans mobile,it was switched off. For three days then we were not able to contact Karan. We got worried and came to Mumbai. When we went to his house in Andheri,we found it locked. We approached police and filed a missing person complaint, said Hanish, adding they had informed police about Palande and Simran.
Hanish said police had called Simran for enquiries but after she told t hem she did not know anything about Karan, she was allowed to go. According to Hanish,he then got Karans credit card details which showed that on March 5,he had shopped in Inorbit Mall and also bought fuel.
On March 17,Hanish got a call from Karans friend in Delhi that his mobile phone had been found on Vaishali Express train and had handed it over to the railway police. Hanish went to Delhi and took the phone which had chats between Karan and Palande.
Hanish also secured CCTV recordings from Inorbit Mall,in which he found two men accompanying Kakad.
On Wednesday, when Hanish saw photographs of the accused in the Oshiwara murder case,he approached Amboli police and showed them the CCTV footage.
When contacted,HS Vhatkar, senior police inspector of Amboli police station said they had arrested Simran and would also question Palande,Shinde and Gajkosh to find whether they had killed Karan or had hidden him somewhere.
