Acquaintance held for raping 4-yr-old

“When the victim fell unconscious,the accused panicked and took her to a spot near the railway tracks. After keeping her there Chauhan called up the girl’s father and told him that she had been found lying near the tracks,” said Suresh Kelje,senior police inspector of the MHB Colony police station.

When the victim’s father arrived at the spot,Chauhan reportedly told him that he was passing by when he saw a boy forcing himself on her. “The accused claimed that he beat up the boy,who he said had fled,” said Kelje.

The victim’s father asked the accused to come along with him to the police station to lodge a complaint since he was the eyewitness. The accused could not find a way out and accompanied him to the MHB Colony police station. “When we asked Chauhan to give his statement and asked him questions about what was he doing near the tracks at the time of the incident,he could not answer,which we found suspicious,” said Kelje.

Finding his answers unsatisfactory,the police grew suspicious. “An examination revealed blood stains on his trousers,which confirmed our doubt,” added Kelje. The police officers then arrested Chauhan on charges of rape.

“The victim has been admitted to Bhagwati Hospital and we are awaiting the reports of the blood samples of the accused,” he added.
