In a major reshuffle ahead of the Lok Sabha polls next year, the Congress on Saturday appointed Sachin Pilot as its Chhattisgarh in-charge and relieved Priyanka Gandhi Vadra from the post of AICC in-charge of Uttar Pradesh.

Priyanka Gandhi has been replaced by Avinash Pande as the UP in-charge. Senior Kerala Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala was named the AICC in-charge of Maharashtra.

While Sachin Pilot was appointed as the General Secretary of the Chhattisgarh Congress, Deepa Dasmunshi was named the AICC in-charge of Kerala and Lakshadweep and was also given the additional charge of Telangana Congress. Congress leader GA Mir has been appointed as the General Secretary of Jharkhand and also given the additional charge of West Bengal. Kumari Selja, who was formerly in charge of the Chhattisgarh Congress, is now entrusted with Uttarakhand.

Earlier this month, Congress faced a severe drubbing in the Assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, losing power in the first two states.
