BJP fields Navya Haridas against Priyanka Gandhi in Wayanad Lok Sabha seat

The party also named 24 candidates for assembly bypolls across eight states.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday fielded Navya Haridas from Kerala’s Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, where the Congress has fielded Priyanka Gandhi for her electoral debut.

Navya had unsuccessfully contested in the Kerala assembly election in 2021 from Kozhikode South constituency.

The party also named 24 candidates for assembly bypolls across eight states. Former MP Sunil Soni will contest from Raipur City South assembly in Chhattisgarh.

Besides the central state, the BJP named its nominees for the assembly bypolls being held in Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and West Bengal.

The bypolls to Wayanad Lok Sabha seat and 47 assembly seats across 14 states will take place on November 13. Bypolls to Nanded Lok Sabha seat in Maharashtra and Kedarnath assembly seat in Uttarakhand will be held on November 20.

The results will be declared on November 23.
