Criticising the Opposition’s ‘vote chori’ allegations, BJP national general secretary Vinod Tawde said it cannot be an issue on which election campaigning is carried out.

Terming the Bihar Assembly elections results as a “giant leap” that will redefine national politics, BJP national general secretary in charge of Bihar affairs, Vinod Tawde, said Friday that a similar resounding victory of the party-led alliance will also be witnessed in the Maharashtra local body polls.

“Mahayuti in Maharashtra will emerge victorious in the local body elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, and Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar,” Tawde said.

Speaking to the media at the BJP office in Patna after the polls, Tawde, who played a crucial role in the Bihar elections, said, “The state parliamentary board will take a decision on the chief minister in a couple of days… When a Hindi heartland state gets such a grand victory, it certainly is heartening. It is a giant leap forward that will have an impact across the country.”

With Chief Minister Nitish Kumar having been in power in the state almost continuously for 20 years, many were sceptical about the NDA’s return in the Assembly elections. The landslide mandate in Bihar has shown the people’s faith in the leadership and development of PM Modi, Tawde said.

Reflecting on the upcoming elections in Maharashtra, the BJP leader added, “The Mahayuti will win across local bodies in the state.” He pointed, “The Opposition’s main agenda in polls is vote chori (theft). Now, how can that be an issue for the campaign?”

Taking a dig at the Thackerays, the BJP general secretary wondered, “How can you make a servant your corporator?” Instead, “The individual who becomes a corporator should represent the masses.” The remark was made in the wake of posters put up outside the Shiv Sena Bhavan by the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), which said, “Thackeray sevak will become nagarsevak.”
