THE RAM Janma Bhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust discussed preparations for the forthcoming Ram Navami celebrations on April 17 as well as the future construction work of the Ram Temple during a meeting at Maniram Chavni, Ayodhya, on Friday.

In the meeting, attended by construction committee chairman Nipendra Mishra, treasurer Govind Dev Giri and other members, it was decided that Prasad Bharati would put up about 100 LED screens or LED walls across the area under Ayodhya Municipal Corporation limits and also in the neighbouring markets to display Ram Navami celebrations in Ayodhya live. While the discussion also started on moving forward with the construction of ‘Ram Darbar’ on the first floor of the temple, it was also decided to start seven rows for “darshan” to accommodate more pilgrims and visitors.

Trust secretary Champat Rai said the Trust was considering increasing the darshan timings from 14 hours at present to up to 20 hours to allow more visitors on Ram Navmi. He added that arrangements are also been made to ensure that every visitor gets ‘prasad’. “Prasar Bharati will ensure live telecast of Ram Navami celebrations at Ram Temple through LED sceens in Ayodhya Nagar Nigam boundaries and, if possible, in the neighbouring markets as well. Prasad Bharati will ensure that such screens are put up in at least 100 places,” said Rai.

Requesting people to celebrate Ram Navami at their respective places and watch the celebrations in Ayodhya on TV, Rai said it would be difficult to ascertain the number of people who would visit Ram Temple on the day of Ram Navami. “As the number of visitors could be in lakhs, we have decided to start seven rows for darshan simultaneously. At present, there are four rows but three rows would be added,” said Rai.

Considering the likely high temperature on Ram Navmi day (April 17), Rai said arrangements would be made to provide shaded cover to visitors from Birla Dharamshala to Ram Temple marg, which is used for darshan. He said that in order to speed up the darshan process, he requested visitors “not to carry mobile phones” and leave their footwear at a distance.

On the development of Ram Darbar on the first floor of the Temple, Rai said, “Discussions have started. Who would prepare the sketch, how it would be prepared… it will all be chalked out slowly.”
