What to watch on OTT: Debutant Aryan Khan-directed The Ba***ds of Bollywood & The Trial Season 2, powered by Kajol to Danny Boyle’s post-apocalyptic coming-of-age horror film 28 Years Later and India’s highest-grossing animated film Mahavatar Narasimha: and Pedro Almodóvar’s Parallel Mothers and a few others are available for streaming. The Ba***ds of Bollywood

The highly anticipated series The Ba***ds of Bollywood, which marks Aryan Khan’s directorial debut, is now streaming on Netflix. Set against a filmy backdrop, The Ba***ds of Bollywood is a genre-defying series that blends self-awareness with cheeky humour. The series, produced by Red Chillies Entertainments, is written by Aryan, Bilal Siddiqi and Manav Chauhan. Its ensemble cast features Bobby Deol, Lakshya, Sahher Bambba, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, Manish Chaudhari, Raghav Juyal, Anya Singh, Vijayant Kohli, and Gautami Kapoor.
Mahavatar Narsimha

Tipped to be India’s highest-grossing animated film, Mahavatar Narasimha is directed by Ashwin Kumar and produced by Kleem Productions. The film is based on the Shrimad Bhagavata Purana. It combines the stories of two incarnations of Lord Vishnu, Varaha and Narasimha. Varaha, a mighty boar, rescues Bhudevi (Mother Earth) from Hiranyaksha. later, Hiranyaksha’s bother Hiranyakashipu becomes powerful and oppresses Vishnu’s followers. Prahlad, his son and devotee of Vishnu, remains faithful despite his father’s threats. To save Prahlad, Vishnu appears as Narsimha, a half-man, half-lion form, who kills Hiranyakashipu.
Confidence Queen S1

Confidence Queen Season 1 follows a smart woman, Yi-rang, who becomes the ultimate con artist, while teaming up with fellow cons James and Gu-ho. Together the eccentric trio of swindlers fight the system to expose scammers and take their ill-gotten gains. Directed by Nam Ki-hoon, the Korean drama series features Park Min-young, Park Hee-soon and Joo Jong-hyuk. The fifth and sixth episodes will premiere on September 20 and 21. This will be followed by two new episodes every week, until the season finale on October 11. The series is available in English, Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam.

Spanish maestro Pedro Almodóvar’s boisterous swapped-at-birth melodrama, Parallel Mothers opened the 2021 Venice Film Festival, where Penelope Cruz won the Best Actress award. The movie starring Milena Smit alongside Cruz is one of Almodóvar’s most overtly political works to date, referencing Spain’s mass graves from the regime of Franco. “The film opens with protagonists Janis and Ana meeting in a hospital before giving birth. Both are single and became pregnant by accident. Janis, middle-aged, doesn’t regret it. Adolescent Ana is scared. A close link between the two blossoms, which develops into a complex relationship that will change their lives in a decisive way,” the synopsis reads.
House Mates

Tamil-language film House Mates, a genre-bending mix of horror, fantasy, and comedy, is directed by T Raja Vel and is produced by Sivakarthikeyan and S. Vijayaprakash under the banner of SK Productions. The story follows Karthik (Darshan) and Anu (Aarsha Chandini Baiju), a newlywed couple who move into an apartment, only to discover strange occurrences that seem linked to another family in a different timeline. What starts off as an ordinary domestic setting quickly turns into a suspenseful, supernatural puzzle where comedy, fantasy, and emotional drama intertwine. The cast also features Kaali Venkat, Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, Dheena, Abdool Lee, and Master Henrik, the film is complemented by a vibrant soundtrack from Rajesh Murugesan, acclaimed for Premam and Neram.
28 Years Later

The post-apocalyptic coming-of-age horror film is produced and directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. In the story, it’s been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped from a biological weapons laboratory. Still living in an enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amid the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily defended causeway. When one of them decides to venture into the dark heart of the mainland, he soon discovers a mutation that has spread to not only the infected, but other survivors as well. The film stars Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Alfie Williams and Ralph Fiennes.
