Sunil Grover’s United Kacche puts a comedic spin on immigrant experience, watch trailer
Sunil Grover is back with the comedy series United Kacche which talks about illegal immigrants and their challenges. Also starring Satish Shah, Sapna Pabbi, Nikhil Vijay and Manu Rishi Chaddha, the show will stream on ZEE5.

After an impressive performance in murder mystery Sunflower, Sunil Grover is now back to doing what he does best, comedy. The actor plays the lead role in United Kacche, a web series about the challenging lives of illegal immigrants in London. Directed by Manav Shah, the eight-episode series also stars Satish Shah, Sapna Pabbi, Nikhil Vijay, Manu Rishi Chaddha, Nayani Dixit and Neelu Kohli among others.
On Thursday, the trailer of the show dropped, giving a glimpse of the fun ride the ZEE5 show promises to be. It opens with Tejinder Gill aka Tango (Grover) selling off his land in Punjab to migrate to a foreign land for a better life. However, he’s in for a shock at the conditions one has to live in while trying to build a life away from home. From getting ‘half a sofa’ to sleep on and washing utensils for a living, his sad life gets some sunshine after he falls in love with the Indian neighbour. A misunderstanding breaks them apart, leaving him further distraught.
Tango and his miseries have been presented in a humourous way and some of the punchlines really make you laugh. His conversation with his Bangladeshi roommate, where the latter says that he’s allowed to come to his side, as that’s what they’ve been doing for years, is some smart writing.
As per the makers United Kacche uncovers the story of many Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi citizens who are not permanent residents of England and are thus known as Kacche. They settle abroad as illegal immigrants without legitimate paperwork, living a hand-to-mouth life on daily wages while constantly hiding from the authorities.
Talking about United Kacche, Sunil Grover said that its title is significant and conveys so much about the show and its concept. “Firstly, the series is based in London and so, we shot in UK extensively to keep the look and the feel of the show as authentic as possible; secondly, Kacche signifies an illegal immigrant residing in a foreign country without legitimate paperwork trying to become a legal citizen and thirdly; united also conveys the unification of all illegal immigrants from different countries and religions who become one family as they are undergoing the same struggle so even in this series, you will see an Indian man, a Pakistani couple and a Bangladeshi duo live together in unison. In a gist, United Kacche is a slice-of-life situational comedy with relatable characters and their everyday struggle in a foreign land,” he shared in a statement.
The series streams from March 31 on ZEE5.s
