The Bollywood-K-drama crossover nobody saw coming. Siddhant Chaturvedi recently teamed up with South Korean actor Chae So Bin for a footwear ad shot in Mumbai, and the internet nearly branded it AI-generated before realising the commercial was as real as So Bin flying down to India for the shoot. The K-drama star recently shot to fame with her Netflix series When the Phone Rings alongside Yoo Yeon Seok. Her collaboration with the Gully Boy star was kept under wraps until the video suddenly exploded on social media.
The scene opens with Chae So Bin walking in the rain holding her white umbrella. Siddhant’s car drives past, splashing water all over her white Crocs. She shoots him an annoyed glare. He steps out, regret written all over his face, trying to fix his car’s tyre. As she walks away, she suddenly pauses, watches him getting soaked, and then steps back, covering him with her umbrella. He looks up, she chuckles, the perfect meet-cute.
This comes after weeks of buzz about the K-drama star shooting something in India. Earlier, photos from the set had gone viral, sparking wild fan theories, until it was finally revealed to be an ad for American footwear brand. The video started gaining traction after Crocs Japan dropped it midweek. The caption read, “Even rainy days are like love, let’s enjoy 🌈.”
Indian fans were the first to storm the comment section, being familiar with both stars. One wrote, “Korean actor × Indian actor × Japanese account × English song. What a collab.” Another joked, “What in the multiverse is this?” A third chimed in, “Please tell me they actually went on a date together, oh please.” A fourth said, “This is the closest to world peace we’ll ever get, Korea, India, Japan, America.” Some even started rallying for them to get cast together in a project.
Chae So Bin debuted in 2014 with My Dictator and grabbed the spotlight with Love in the Moonlight. She went on to headline hit K-dramas like Strongest Deliveryman, I’m Not a Robot, and Where Stars Land. But it was her Netflix breakout When the Phone Rings that made her a household name. In the drama, she plays a mute anchor who uses sign interpretation. Meanwhile, Siddhant is a Bollywood regular with leading roles in films like Shakun Batra’s Gehraiyaan, Phone Bhoot, and more.
