Fans of My Happy Marriage are extremely upset over Netflix’s continuous ignorance towards Season 2 of the popular anime. Episode 12 (the finale) kept hitting production delays, and yet there was radio silence from the streamer—fans had to dig through the internet for updates. However, now, the OTT giant has officially confirmed the release date of the highly anticipated Episodes 13 and 14, wrapping up Miyo and Kiyoka’s serendipitous marriage and their journey together.

Netflix confirms My Happy Marriage season 2 finale date

Netflix has now confirmed that the final two episodes of Season 2 will be released on April 25. It took nearly a month, but at least fans are not being kept in the dark anymore, especially since there are reports that Japan already got the ending, and global fans were dodging spoilers left and right on social media. People were annoyed, rightly so.

Originally scheduled to release on March 24, Episode 12 was then postponed. A new date, March 31, was suggested. Fans logged into Netflix like usual, only to find nothing. No new episode. No explanation at first. Later, an apology was posted: “We regret to inform that Episode 12 of My Happy Marriage Season 2 has been postponed due to production delays. We apologise for the delay and will announce the streaming schedule as soon as it is confirmed.”

Even anime reporters and bloggers started voicing their frustration, asking why Netflix would leave one of its best-performing shows’ fate hanging in the balance while continuing to promote other anime titles like Devil May Cry and Witch Watch. My Happy Marriage has become one of Netflix’s most successful attempts at adapting a manga into a live-action project, originally written by Akumi Agitogi and illustrated by Tsukiho Tsukioka. With over 1.5 million views, it has also become one of the most watched non-English titles globally and the most watched anime in the second half of 2023.

What happened in Season 2 so far?

Miyo and Kiyoka’s relationship, which began with cold behaviour, hesitation, secret feelings, and hidden powers, deepened in season 2. The show really took its time to show how they’ve grown, not just as a couple, but as individuals, and with their powers, especially Miyo, who belongs to the powerful Saimori clan. Miyo, who in the first season was a quiet and emotionally beaten-down woman, began tapping into her psychic powers. She finally started believing in herself. And Kiyoka, who always seemed distant, slowly learned how to trust and open up.

As the story progressed, the narrative shifted to more action scenes, more drama, and rising tension from supernatural threats and political forces trying to stop them. By Episode 11, things had hit a high point—Miyo unlocked her full powers, helped Kiyoka, and emerged as the unstoppable force ready to ruin Naoshi’s dangerous plans. The build-up was perfect for a grand, emotional finale, before the fun hit a roadblock.
