Jai Mahendran trailer: “This is the electricity bill of our village office for the past two months. The bills before this were paid by me with my own money. But I am not capable of paying this,” laments a distressed government employee (Anand Manmadhan) to deputy tehsildar Mahendran G (Saiju Kurup). Despite the gravity of the situation, Mahendran responds with a gentle smile, as if he’s encountered this situation countless times before, giving a default-like reply, “This is not your problem alone. The situation is the same in all 1,664 village offices in Kerala.” This scene at the start of its newly released trailer sets the tone for the highly anticipated Malayalam web series Jai Mahendran, which explores the inefficiencies of government offices — an issue that has often piqued the interest of Indian audiences.

The 115-second trailer further shows the struggles of commoners who are forced to run from pillar to post in the bureaucratic maze when visiting the taluk office. With record rooms overflowing with files, where mice have made their nests, and employees displaying a lax attitude, the promo video highlights everything wrong with Mahendran’s office.
