After months-long silence following the controversies that plagued her rising career in 2024, My Name star Han So Hee has finally shared an update about her life and comeback plans. On April 11, the South Korean actor penned a heartfelt letter on her personal blog, reflecting on her personal growth. The post didn’t directly mention the controversies, but it carried the weight of everything she’s been through, especially the backlash involving her brief relationship with Ryu Jun Yeol, the public tension with his ex-girlfriend Hyeri, and the online fallout, including the bullying accusations that followed. “Because the past shapes the present, I tend to reflect often. There were moments when I was lacking, and many times I was convinced I was right when I wasn’t,” she wrote.

Han So Hee shares life update and comeback plans

The Gyeongseong Creature Star admitted that she’s been trying to stop herself from dwelling on past mistakes. Instead, she’s focusing on accepting her limits and living a more practical life. “These days, I try to live within my means and capabilities. We can’t always aim for the best or perfection,” she shared. As someone constantly in the public eye, she also acknowledged the pressure to always be better, but now she just wants to create a space where people can connect with her honestly. “What I can offer is a space where you can stop by, smile at my messy, unstructured posts and photos, and reflect on your own day. If that brings you even a little closer to me, that’s more than enough,” she said.

The actor had previously expressed frustration with her then-partner, Ryu Jun Yeol, for remaining silent and not clearly addressing their relationship or the situation with his ex-girlfriend, Hyeri, as she was caught up in “transit relationship” claims before they parted ways. Toward the end of the post, she admitted the tone got “a bit heavy,” and summed up her letter by saying she’ll try to share more once her film shoot wraps.

Han So Hee is preparing for her comeback with Project Y alongside Jeon Jong Seo. She signed off with a photo of a broken ATM with a sign that read, “We apologise for the inconvenience. We will fix the mess as soon as possible.” She also included hashtags: #Pretendingtohavelivedawholelife and #TryingtoteachotherswhenIcan’tevenhelpmyself.

Han So Hee Ryu Jun Yeol dating controversy

In March 2024, Han Soo Hee, fresh off her standout performance in the music video of BTS’ Jungkook’s “Seven”, confirmed her relationship with Reply 1988 star Ryu Jun Yeol. The update came just weeks after he ended his 7-year relationship with Hyeri. Many called it a “rebound” romance, and So Hee ended up facing accusations that she might have been the reason behind their breakup, especially after she posted a series of emotional and indirect comments that appeared to be aimed at Hyeri.

The backlash was intense. Hyeri got involved in the drama where the actor indirectly addressed the situation. Within two weeks of going public, Han So Hee and Ryu Jun Yeol broke up. After the breakup, she was accused of having a secret Instagram account that allegedly left nasty comments about Hyeri online, though her agency denied those claims and later Hyeri indirectly cleared her name from the controversy after addressing her breakup with Ryu Jun Yeol.

This is not the first time the actor has spoken out about her controversy. Last year, while promoting her Netflix K-drama Gyeongseong Creature with Park Seo Joon, she said that personal matters should not interfere with professional life. Later, her agency also warned of legal action against those spreading rumours of online bullying.
