In Real Love contestant Sakshi Gupta accuses fellow contestant Virendra of kissing her without consent, latter says, ‘It was mutual’

Netflix India recently launched the dating reality show In Real Love, hosted by Rannvijay Singha and Gauahar Khan. The show will explore the differences and similarities between conventional dating and online dating. In episode four of the show, one of the female contestants encountered trouble when a male contestant allegedly kissed her on the shoulder without her consent. 

Contestant Sakshi Gupta and her ‘connection’ on the show, Virendra, were out on a date, when he told her that he had kissed her on the shoulder at a pool party the previous day. Sakshi was taken aback, and she said that she had no memory of the incident. Sakshi initially said that she was drunk, and was surprised that she didn’t remember the kiss. Virendra was concerned about how he’d come off because of his admission, and slowly, Sakshi realised that she does not approve of what he had done. She confronted Virendra about his behaviour and said, “I think that sometimes you, please don’t get me wrong, you sometimes force things and it is wrong. It should be a two-way conversation. I would give you the right that you are my boyfriend, then you will be able to kiss me here (pointing at her shoulder), otherwise you will not.”

Talking to another contestant, Sakshi said, “I felt so bad. He told me something. He told me that when we were in the pool, I was zoned out. I was not in my senses and he kissed me here And I don’t even remember when did he do that.” (Sic) Sakshi got frustrated when Virendra said, “It was mutual,” and told him, “I had no feelings for you.”

Virendra, who justified his actions, said, “No matter how drunk you are, at that moment, you cannot have a mood swing and just change your words like that. At that moment, you’re in a certain mood and your body language in a certain way and you do something and now you’re in your senses. I’m looking like a pervert right now.” 

Virendra stormed off, and later, the two ended their ‘connection’ on the show. IRL: In Real Love is currently streaming on Netflix.
