Rishab Shetty reveals details about Prasanth Varma’s Jai Hanuman, was hesitant about committing to it before Kantara sequel

“Prasanth Varma has a fabulous script. Kahani itna interesting hai. Mujhe tha ki Kantara se pahle kuch commit nahi hona chahiye, poora khatam karke baad me dekhte hai. Lekin Prasanth Varma aake mujhe kahani bataya to mai refuse nhi kar saka. Toh immediately maine haa bol diya. Uske baad humne photoshoot kiya. Unka kaam chal raha hai abhi. So ye poora release hone ke baad we will fix the date and we will start (Prasanth Varma has a fabulous script. The story is so interesting. I thought I shouldn’t commit to anything before Kantara, let’s finish it and take a call later. But Prasanth Varma came and told me the story, and I couldn’t refuse. So I immediately said yes. After that, we did a photoshoot. His work is still going on. So, after the release (of Kantara), we will fix the date and we will start),” shared the actor in his interview with Pinkvilla.

Rishab Shetty also expressed his excitement about collaborating and working with Prasanth and production house Mythri Movie Makers.

Jai Hanuman was announced after the success of Prasanth’s directorial HanuMan, starring Teja Sajja. Jai Hanuman is part of Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe and is likely to follow the events of HanuMan. The movie might go on the floors next year as it is eyeing a release in 2027. Besides Jai Hanuman, Prasanth has also announced two more superhero movies- MahaKali and Adhira, which will also be part of his cinematic universe.

On the other hand, the much-talked about film Kantara: Chapter 1, is helmed by Rishab Shetty himself. It also stars Rukmini Vasanth, Gulshan Devaiah, Jayaram and Pramod Shetty in pivotal roles.

The film, set in pre-colonial coastal Karnataka, is expected to delve into the ancient origins of the Bhuta Kola ritual while expanding on the mythological lore and historical themes introduced in the 2022 release. Much like its predecessor, the sequel is said to weave together regional folklore, spirituality, and action, furthering the tale of humanity’s bond with nature and the divine, this time against the backdrop of the Kadamba dynasty of Banavasi.
