Mirai box office collection Day 1: After delivering a thunderous hit with Hanu-Man, actor Teja Sajja has returned to the big screen with the much-anticipated action spectacle Mirai. The film has opened to an impressive start, surpassing Hanu-Man’s opening day collections. According to early estimates by industry tracker Sacnilk, Mirai earned approximately Rs 12 crore net across India (all languages combined). In comparison, Hanu-Man, which released last year, had collected around Rs 8 crore net on its opening day.

The film saw an overall 68.59% Telugu occupancy on Day 1, reflecting a strong reception in its home market. Morning shows opened with a 56.2% occupancy, which rose to 63.61% in the afternoon, 70.75% in the evening, and peaked at 83.81% during night shows. Among cities, Hyderabad led with the highest number of shows (404) and a remarkable 85.5% occupancy. Bengaluru followed with 346 shows and a respectable 43.75% occupancy. Outside of Telugu, the film’s pan-India release saw moderate performance across other language markets. Tamil occupancy stood at 19.5%, followed by Malayalam at 16.69%, Hindi at 10.86%, and Kannada at 5.86%.

While Mirai has opened stronger than Hanu-Man, it trails behind some recent pan-India releases. Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom debuted with Rs 18 crore, Dhanush’s Kuberra opened with Rs 14.75 crore, and Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj had a stellar start with Rs 25.35 crore. Nani’s HIT: The Third Case also performed better on its first day with Rs 21 crore. However, when compared to other recent Telugu releases, Mirai holds up well, outperforming the animated mythological film Mahavatar Narsimha, which opened at Rs 1.75 crore, but went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year, and Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel, which earned Rs 11.5 crore on its first day.

Directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, Mirai features an ensemble cast including Manchu Manoj, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu, and Jayaram. Though initial reviews from critics and audiences have been mixed, the film is expected to see continued interest over the weekend, particularly in its home market. With Teja Sajja’s rising profile and the backing of Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, which is presenting the Hindi version of the film, Mirai is positioned to capitalise on its opening momentum. Whether it can replicate or exceed the success of Hanu-Man will depend on its performance in the coming days.
