Mahesh Babu calls Dhanush’s Raayan ‘a must watch’: ‘Brilliantly directed and performed’

Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu is a rare actor who doesn’t use his social media accounts only to promote his own films, but shares his appreciative reviews of other films from time to time. Earlier today, Mahesh Babu took to his X account to share his views on Dhanush’s latest release, Raayan.

In a note that was effusive with praise, Mahesh wrote, “Raayan… Stellar act by Dhanush, brilliantly directed and performed. Outstanding performances by SJ Suryah, Prakash Raj, Sundeep Kishan, and the entire cast. An electrifying score by the maestro AR Rahman. A must-watch. Congratulations to the entire team — Sun Pictures, Dushara Vijayan, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Kalidas Jayaram, Aparna Balamurali, and Selvaraghavan (sic).”

Netizens were in praise of Mahesh Babu for his warm gesture, and prodded other celebrities too to be grounded and talk about their favourite films irrespective of the language. In fact, some even wished Dhanush to direct Mahesh Babu in the future, and there were voices praising the superstar’s lack of insecurity.

Raayan, which marks Dhanush’s landmark 50th film, has amassed a total of almost Rs 50 crore in the domestic box-office. This is one of the biggest successes of the actor-filmmaker’s career, and is his second directorial venture after 2017’s Pa Paandi. With music by AR Rahman and cinematography by Om Prakash, Raayan is being praised for its stellar direction, effective performances, and the superior technical quality of the film.

Mahesh Babu, who recently starred in Trivikram Srinivas’ Guntur Kaaram, will next be seen in SS Rajamouli’s big-ticket action adventure, tentatively titled SSMB 29.
