Karthi apologises to Pawan Kalyan for laughing while addressing Tirupati Laddu issue: ‘I always hold our traditions dear’
Karthi’s statement that laddus are a sensitive issue, and the whole audience breaking into a laugh didn’t go down well with actor and Andhra’s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan

Post the allegations of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu that animal fat was used as an ingredient in the laddus at Tirupati’s Sri Venkateswara Temple, the topic has become an uneasy one to address. Even as the representatives of the previous YS Jagan Mohan Reddy government contest the claims, there is no doubt that this is one of the most debated topics in India right now. Even as many prominent voices are vociferously putting forth their opinions on this topic, one voice that unwittingly found itself in the midst of this controversy was actor Karthi.

During the Hyderabad leg of promotions of his next film, Meiyazhagan, which is releasing in Telugu as Sathyam Sundaram, Karthi refrained from making comments on laddus by saying, “It is a sensitive issue, and let’s not talk about it now,” and breaking into a laugh. While it was said in response to the event’s anchor using a meme from his film, Siruthai, a remake of Ravi Teja’s Vikramarkudu, Karthi’s statement and the whole audience breaking into a laugh didn’t go down well with actor and Andhra’s Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
Speaking to the media, he said, “Don’t you dare say it is a sensitive issue or make jokes about the Tirupati Laddu. I respect you as an actor, I urge everyone from the film fraternity to either support this fight or stay silent. I would request everyone to refrain from making unnecessary remarks.” In response, Karthi put out an apology and said, “”Dear Pawan Kalyan sir, with deep respects to you, I apologize for any unintended misunderstanding caused. As a humble devotee of Lord Venkateswara, I always hold our traditions dear. Best regards.”
Here’s the apology:
