(Photo: Pushpa/X)The cast and crew of Pushpa 2: The Rule congregated at a success meet on Saturday, as the action-drama became the fastest Indian film to reach the Rs 500 crore mark globally. Pushpa 2 earned Rs 449 crore worldwide in its first two days of release, and has already collected over Rs 60 crore in the first half of day three. The event was attended by actor Allu Arjun, and director Sukumar, along with the film’s producers. Rashmika Mandanna, however, didn’t attend. During the event, the makers thanked the franchise’s fans, and Allu Arjun also addressed the tragic death of a woman at a preview show some days ago.
In his speech, the actor thanked the several people associated with the film, from the technicians to his co-artistes, as well as media. The actor gave a special shout-out to film’s writer and director Sukumar. He thanked the Telangana government for allowing a hike in ticket prices. While expressing his happiness over the success of the film, Allu Arjun also expressed his grief over what occurred at the Sandhya theatre some days ago, when a woman died after a stampede-like situation broke out.
Speaking about the incident, the actor said in Telugu, “A very unfortunate incident took place at Sandhya Cinema. We are extremely sorry for that. I had no idea about it until the next morning. When I heard about it on December 5, I was in shock. It took me hours to process it and respond to the incident. I couldn’t process it psychologically. It took me around 10 hours. We all blanked out when we heard the news. Sukumar got extremely emotional.”
A day after the incident, Allu Arjun announced a compensation of Rs 25 lakh for the victim’s family. At the event, he admitted that no compensation can be enough. “No compensation is going to make justice to what happened, what I did was just a gesture to make them know we are with them. Right now, I am giving them space to process their personal loss. Later, I will personally visit them and assure them that I am just one call away.”
On December 6, Allu Arjun shared a video with the caption: “Deeply heartbroken by the tragic incident at Sandhya Theatre. My heartfelt condolences go out to the grieving family during this unimaginably difficult time. I want to assure them they are not alone in this pain and will meet the family personally. While respecting their need for space to grieve, I stand committed to extend every possible assistance to help them navigate through this challenging journey.”
