Vivek Dahiya was apprehensive about marrying Divyanka Tripathi, wondered, ‘How will I afford her expenses?’

TV actors Divyanka Tripathi and Vivek Dahiya met on the sets of their hit TV show, Yeh Hai Mohabbatein and were introduced to each other by a common friend. They met a couple of times and eventually fell in love. They tied the knot in a grand ceremony in Bhopal in 2016 and havebeen together ever since. However, initially, when Vivek was proposed the idea of marrying Divyanka, he was a bit apprehensive. The couple also discussed the possibility of Vivek being tagged ‘Divyanka’s husband’ as she was a bigger star than him.

In a recent interaction with Bollywood Bubble, Vivek narrated his love story with Divyanka. He shared, “It was a setup. Somebody I was sharing my makeup room with had got ideas in his head that I could be a good life partner to Divyanka and vice versa. He kind of stitched us and we met a couple of times. Then things went ahead. We realised we are supposed to be together.”

But it took some convincing from his friend and co-actor Pankaj Bhatia before Vivek decided to marry Divyanka. “I remember Pankaj Bhatia used to say, ‘tu poori zindagi thank you bolte nahi thakega (You will be grateful forever), that’s how wonderful she is because I showed resilience towards an arranged setup in the beginning. I said, ‘No, I am just starting my career.’ My first hiccup was that she is such a big star, how will I be able to take care of her expenses, how will I afford it?” Vivek shared. But Bhatia convinced him that Divyanka is an independent woman and he would only need to take care of himself and not hers.

Vivek added, “It was the beginning of my career and I was trying to establish myself and I needed that confidence. It was not so much about the financial stability, it was more to do with confidence that on the day of my marriage, I should feel accomplished.”

Also, the actor was worried about being recognised only as the husband of a popular actor. “There were times when I used to get bogged down with these thoughts. We were quite mature when we first entered the institution of marriage. We spoke at length that this will happen. Before I proposed to her, we sat down in front of our families, and then she and the family made me aware that it is quite likely to happen that you will be tagged.”

However, Vivek cared little about what people would say. What mattered to him was what Divyanka thought of him. He told his family and Divyanka that he would be alright until they or her “started feeling like that”. He told Divyanka, “I will be doomed the day you will start to feel that way.”

Vivek Dahiya is currently seen in the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa. Divyanka Tripathi was last seen in Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 11. The actor won hearts with her daredevil attitude on the show and ended up as the first runner-up.
