Shivaji Sattam says he is unaware whether his CID character will be killed, channel gets to decide: ‘Currently on long holiday’

There were reports that Shivaji Sattam wanting to quit the show due to which the makers will kill his character. The veteran star has played ACP Pradyuman for over 2 decades.

There were speculations that the makers of CID are planning to kill the character of ACP Pradyuman, played by Shivaji Satam, in the iconic show as the veteran star wants to quit. Now, in a latest development, the actor has reacted to these rumours.

In an interview with Mid-day, the actor who is currently on a vacation said he was not aware of any such development. He said, “I am personally not aware if the character will be exiting the show or not. Currently, I am enjoying a nice long holiday and have not been informed about any future shooting for CID.”

Claiming the show is Sony Channel’s property, the actor said that if at all there is any truth to these rumours, it will be soon announced by the channel. As per an India Today report, ACP Pradyuman will reportedly die in a bomb blast, which is the handiwork of Barbussa, played by Tigmanshu Dhulia. He is trying to destroy the entire team with the blast. “While the other members would be saved, ACP Pradyuman would lose his life,” as per the report.

The show, which first aired in 1998, had a continuous run for 20 years, until they stopped it in 2018. The show starred actors Shivaji Satam, Dayanand Shetty and Aditya Srivastava in the lead roles. On public demand, the makers of the show decided to bring back CID in 2024 with the main leads reprising their role.

The show, reportedly opened to good TRPs. However, in January 2025, it was reported that CID has recorded 65% lower television ratings than Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah. As per BARC TRP report for 2025’s week 2, the second season of CID grabbed the 28th spot among top Indian shows with a Television Viewer Ratings of just 0.8.
