Parth Samthaan ‘rejected’ ACP Pradyuman’s role when he was first offered CID, says he was ‘hesitant’ to join the cast: ‘It was awkward’
Parth Samthaan and the makers of CID 2 received severe backlash after they decided to kill the character of ACP Pradyuman. Parth is the new ACP on show.

Parth Samthaan is all set to enter the world of CID. The actor will play the new ACP on the show after the shocking death of Shivaji Satam’s ACP Pradyuman. Fans of the show have not responded well to this new change and in a new interview, Parth said that he initially wanted to refuse the project, but the makers asked him to reconsider.
“Initially, I rejected the role of ACP Pradyuman, because I don’t relate to it. But the makers asked me to reconsider. I was also hesitant due to the show’s long-standing cast and the fact that they’d have to address me as ‘sir’ on screen. It felt a bit unusual and awkward”, he said in a chat with Hindustan Times.
When asked about the backlash he has been receiving online for replacing veteran actor Shivaji, Parth said that he is choosing to focus on the bright side. “I was waiting for the right opportunity to make my comeback on TV. I was offered a few scripts, but they were all similar, romantic roles. When this show was offered to me, I decided to take on the challenge,” he said.
The backlash began after news got out that ACP Pradyuman’s character would be killed off on the show, and Shivaji Satam wouldn’t be a part of the show any longer. The makers then announced that Shivaji’s character would be exiting the show and this angered the fans even further. Many have also speculated that this could be a marketing stunt by the team of the show and Shivaji might rejoin the team soon.
CID first started in 1998 and continued to air on Sony TV until 2018. After a long hiatus, the show recently returned on television.
