Actor Hiten Tejwani, who rose to fame with television series Ghar Ek Mandir, has had a long and successful TV career. After featuring in some of the most popular TV shows for over two decades, he made his web debut in 2018 and was part of the much talked about show Tandav along with Saif Ali Khan.

The actor is now promoting his upcoming web series Kaala, which is helmed by Bejoy Nambira (Shaitan). At the trailer launch of the show, Hiten spoke about his transition from TV to OTT and how he has been waiting to break his “good looking, positive boy” image.

He said, “I am always looking for good roles and I am not very particular that I want to do this or I want to do that. I am an actor first so I want to do the best roles wherever, whatever.”

“I think it is high time that we take away these tags that he is a TV actor or a film actor, as an actor is an actor on all platforms. They have a broad range, they do movies, theater, films… everything. If I get a good role, then I see the whole character and who I am working with, and what that person wants me to do. Bejoy always wanted me to do something different. People have seen me as a good looking, very positive boy. Everybody has shown me that way, but to break that image and show something else (is what got me hooked),” Hiten added.

Hiten Tejwani then shared that working with Bejoy Nambiar was like a dream come true for him.

He said, “Everybody wants to work with Bejoy Nambiar, and being able to finally work with him was like ticking off a wish from my wishlist. I still remember I had gone to meet him for something else and he said ‘I think you are this’. His vision is mind-blowing. When you don’t know how to go about something and then when you see the final product, it (Kaala) is like wow, it is that, everybody is shocked.”

“My character is Bismill and he has a great arc, he has a humane side. Of course the show is about reverse hawala but how it happens is what you’ll see in the show,” Hiten concluded.
