Former Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah actor Gurucharan Singh made headlines when he went missing from Delhi on April 22. After weeks of concern and a missing person report filed by his father, Hargit Singh, the actor finally returned home on Friday, revealing the reason behind his disappearance.

Upon learning of Gurucharan’s safe return, his co-star Jennifer Mistry, who portrayed the character Roshan Daruwala Kaur Sodhi on the show, expressed her happiness and relief in a recent interview with News18 Showsha. Sharing that Gurucharan must have been on a spiritual journey, she said, “That is good news. He was missing for almost a month now. Everyone was worried, from his parents to his fans. I knew that he would definitely come back. I also had a feeling that he must be out on some spiritual journey. He is a very spiritual person. I am happy this is the case and there is no trouble. I am sure his parents must be relieved now.”

Jennifer Mistry emphasised the importance of informing loved ones before embarking on such a journey but acknowledged the powerful draw of spirituality when one feels a spiritual calling. She stated, “I am into spirituality. When there’s a spiritual calling, you feel it. You cannot think of anything else at that time. You feel like, ‘Duniyadaari chodd ke saadhu ban gaye.’ I also feel the same sometimes but because I have a husband and a daughter, I have responsibility. I think he should have informed before leaving but we don’t know what his state of mind must be then.”

According to an India Today report, Gurucharan Singh disclosed to police officials that he had left his ‘worldly life’ and embarked on a religious journey, visiting gurudwaras in Amritsar and Ludhiana. Initially, Gurucharan was supposed to board a flight from Delhi to Mumbai on April 22 but failed to do so, prompting his father to file a missing person report. Delhi Police subsequently opened a kidnapping investigation in response to Hargit Singh‘s complaint.
