Kaun Banega Crorepati episodes are a treasure trove for Amitabh Bachchan fans. The host of the show shares anecdotes about his life that one wouldn’t get to know otherwise. In the last episode of KBC 15, the superstar opened up about his time as the face of the polio eradication campaign. He shared how his angry young man image was used in one of the advertisements, and surprisingly it reaped positive results.
The audience question in the Tuesday episode was regarding polio, which led Big B to go down memory lane. He shared how it was an honour for him to be the face of the project for eight years. Amitabh Bachchan shared that the first ad campaign was not really successful as people had their doubts about the vaccine. That’s when the creative director Piyush Pandey advised him to use his angry young man image and instead of requesting people, he should command them to take their children for vaccination. “Aap next campaign mein daant dijiye (You scold them in the next campaign),” the host recalled his director’s words.
Amitabh Bachchan further shared that when the WHO representative came to India to invite him to felicitate him at the United Nations, she shared a sweet story with him. “She told me that she’d visited a village where she met a mother and spoke about the campaign. The mother had not been giving the polio drops to her child but had this time. When asked what brought the change, she said humne Amitabh ji ko dekha, woh bohot naaraz dikhe toh de diya drops (We saw Amitabh angry, so we relented). Sometimes such ‘ulta sidha’ campaigns also work.”
Kaun Banega Crorepati 15 launched on August 14 and has been keeping fans entertained since then. Talking about his association with the game show, Amitabh Bachchan, in an earlier statement said that KBC has become an integral part of his life. “In its 15th season, we will be ushering in a new beginning – representing an evolving India, its aspirations, and its citizens who dream big. This show has become an integral part of my life, it’s a platform for me to connect with audiences – both inside the studio as well as those watching the show from the comfort of their homes. I am really looking forward to welcoming and interacting with contestants from different walks of life who are such a huge inspiration not only to me but also to those who want to be the change and fulfil their ambitions with the power of knowledge.”
On the work front, Amitabh Bachchan will next be seen in Project K with Prabhas and Deepika Padukone.
