Abhishek Kumar’s journey on the recently concluded 17th season of Bigg Boss was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride. He faced a brief eviction from the show after slapping fellow contestant Samarth Jurel, who provoked him by bringing up his mental health issues. Abhishek also had to contend with jibes from his ex-girlfriend Isha Malviya, who sided with Samarth.

Speaking to Siddharth Kannan about the slapping incident, Abhishek said, “I didn’t realise when I slapped Samarth. I don’t have even one percent realisation. And I didn’t even realise whether I had pushed him or slapped him. When he kept his hand on his cheek at that time I realised that I had slapped him. That was my reaction because he had poked me a lot.”

Reflecting on the provocations he faced, Abhishek explained, “The thing he said about my father, he threw a blanket at me, him bringing the glass in front of him, Isha talking about breaking the TV and how my father had slapped me and all… but after he put tissue in my mouth, I didn’t realise when my hand just lifted and slapped him. I am not proud of that despite people telling me that I did the right thing. He is also somebody’s son and he got the slap in front of the whole nation. I was just saying ‘Jai Shri Ram’ after that moment.”

After his eviction, Abhishek hoped for a miraculous re-entry inside Bigg Boss house. Recounting his experience, he said, “I was made to stay in a hotel after exiting the Bigg Boss house. I wasn’t given phone as they said I will have Bigg Buzz with Krushna Abhishek. But then, the next day, I was blind folded and sent to the confession room. So, miracles do happen.”

Although Abhishek Kumar didn’t win the show, he emerged as the first runner-up, surpassing strong contenders like Mannara Chopra and Ankita Lokhande. The reality show’s ultimate winner was Munawar Faruqui.
