Surya Sethupathi, son of renowned actor Vijay Sethupathi, has so far acted as a child artist in a handful of films. He is now set to embark on his journey as a lead actor in the upcoming film Phoenix, directed by popular stunt choreographer Anl Arasu. The ceremonial launch/pooja of the film took place on November 24 in Chennai. The film marks the debut of Anl Arasu as a director, who has worked with all top heroes of Tamil and Telugu cinema in the past few decades.

Having previously acted in films like Naanum Rowdy Dhaan and Sindhubaadh, Surya Sethupathi will follow in the steps of his father and take the center stage as the protagonist in Phoenix.

The film is produced by Rajalakshmi Arasakumar under Brave Man Pictures, featuring a talented technical crew including composer Sam CS, cinematographer Velraj, and editor Praveen KL. One can expect a full-blown out action from Anal Arasu, who is known for his brilliant work in films like Dabangg 3, Mersal, and Bigil.

Meanwhile, he is set to make a cameo appearance in Vetri Maaran’s Viduthalai 2, the second part to the devastating rural drama about police brutality and custodial deaths. The film is currently in progress.

Vijay Sethupathi, meanwhile, is gearing up for the release of Merry Christmas, which has Kathirina Kaif in the female lead. Directed by Sriram Raghavan, The film will be released on January 12.
