Actor Vijay Sethupathi, who is currently in Goa for the 54th International Film Festival of India, has revealed that he will stop doing ‘villain roles’ in films for a few years. The actor, who recently played a villain in Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan, said that there is a lot of ‘emotional pressure’ in the process of playing a villain.

In a conversation with actor Khushboo Sundar at the film festival, Vijay said that the ‘hero’ of the film started to call him and ask him to play the roles of bad guy.

He said, “They try to put an emotional pressure on me, which I don’t want to face. I am not feeling bad, but still there are restrictions when I play a villain. They are controlling me so much, not to take over the protagonist and some things go in the editing also.”

He continued, “So slowly it is happening and I am confused and worried if I should do it or not. So I have decided, let me not do villains anymore, at least for a few years. If I say no to playing a villain, they say you atleast listen to the script. So there are a lot of problems there.”

The actor also opened up about his acting process and how he prepares for a role. He said, “The people who we are talking to, who we are interacting to. It’s like we have the knowledge, but it is through interaction that comes out. I had some great minds around me when I was trying for cinema. We have to be careful about the minds we are interacting with. They plant their ideas in your head, ao you have to be very careful. I am sorry to say this, I was not interested in directors, I was interested in films.”
