The long-awaited trailer for Vijay’s penultimate movie, The Greatest of All Time (GOAT), was unveiled on Saturday. Directed by Venkat Prabhu and produced by Kalpathi S Aghoram, Kalpathi S Ganesh and Kalpathi S Suresh of AGS Entertainment, the film is among the most anticipated releases of the year, and comes on the heels of Vijay’s biggest-ever hit, Leo.

The action-thriller has been touted to be the most expensive Tamil film of the year, and features Vijay in a dual role. The film also features Prabhudheva and Prashanth, alongside actors such as Mohan, Ajmal Ameer, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Sneha, Laila, Vaibhav, Yogi Babu, Premgi Amaren, Yugendran, VTV Ganesh, and Aravind Akash.

The nearly three-minute-long trailer showcases high-stakes action, spread across the globe. Vijay’s character is described as an elite agent, but when he is targeted by disgruntled former operatives, he springs into action. A portion of the movie appears to be set in Russia, while one subplot involves a bomb threat in Chennai. We see trains, cars, bikes, helicopters, and more vehicles.

In a recent interview, director Venkat Prabhu shed light on the film’s plot. He said, “‘GOAT is a fictional story, but we have made it closer to reality. Vijay and his core team are a part of the Special Anti-Terrorist Squad, a wing of RAW. What they did in the past becomes a problem in the present. How Vijay and his team face these challenges forms the core of the story.” The film’s plot centres around four RAW agents whose past actions come back to haunt them, setting the stage for a high-stakes action drama. This narrative, combined with Vijay’s powerful performance, promises to deliver a thrilling cinematic experience.

The film is slated to release on September 5 in the IMAX format in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages, with Zee Studios distributing it across North Indian states in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
