Thalapathy” Vijay’s much-awaited film The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT) has been making headlines ever since its September 5 release date was confirmed, coinciding with the Vinayaka Chaturthi weekend, and also because it marks Vijay’s second-last film before his full-fledged entry into politics. Adding to the heightened excitement, the makers of the film released the eagerly anticipated first single track, “Whistle Podu”, on Sunday, on the occasion of the Tamil New Year.

The lyrical video, inspired by the famous mantra of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team, has been composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja and choreographed by Raju Sundaram. The video features Vijay dancing alongside Prabhudeva, Prashanth and Ajmal Ameer.

The 5-minute long video also pays homage to director Venkat Prabhu’s previous films, including Mankatha, starring Ajith. Additionally, behind-the-scenes footage from the song’s making can also be seen in the lyric video. The peppy track features the terrific trio — Vijay, Prashanth and Prabhudeva — shaking a leg to Yuvan’s energetic music.

The track, a celebration of friendship, is one of many factors building anticipation for the film. GOAT is rumoured to be a time travel story featuring Vijay in a dual role, with speculations suggesting the movie draws inspiration from the Hollywood film Looper. However, no official confirmation has been made regarding these claims.
