Suriya presided over Karthi 25 celebrations, which was recently held in Chennai. The event also doubled up as a promo for Karthi's upcoming film Japan, directed by Rajumurgan. The film will be released on November 10. It marks the actor's 25th film, an important milestone in his life. Karthi made his acting debut 16 years ago with Paruthiverran (2007), directed by Ameer. The tragic romantic drama shocked the audience for its brutality and became a blockbuster hit. Karthi quickly created a market for himself with films which are both entertaining and with substance. Suriya's speech at Karthi 25, the event's cornerstone, covered all such aspects of Karthi's career. Here's everything Suriya spoke at Karthi 25. 1.Thanking everyone responsible for Karthi's success "I have to go back 25 years when we started Paruthiveeran with Kamal (Haasan) sir as the chief guest. After seeing the film, Rajini sir gave a great blessing. 'Not everyone gets such an opportunity, and Karthi has used it wisely,' he said. These are the people who helped Karthi to get here. I want to thank them before moving on. First is, of course, Mani (Ratnam) sir. Stepping inside Madras Talkies, changed Karthi's perspective of cinema. It made him see life differently. After Mani sir, I would say Gnanvel (Prodcuer, Green Studios). He is the reason behind the journey of Karthi. More than me, all this credit should go to Gnanavel. Then it goes to director Ameer, who gave us Paruthiveeran, a film that cannot be ignored. On top of that, of course, Dream Warriors Prakash, Prabhu, Aravind, and Gopi. I have to mention them all. And you all, who made us do these important films of Tamil cinema. Without you, he wouldn't have done all these good films." 2. Suriya says he gets jealous of Karthi sometimes "I get jealous of him whenever people tell me they like him more than me. People come up to me in temples, airports and all.. and tell me how they like him more than me. Karthi could have done 50 films by now, but he gave the required time and effort for every film he has done. That's why we are celebrating the 25th film of Karthi now. I am still in awe of how he can do Paruthiveeran and Naan Mahan Alla. how he can touch both extremes. It has been fixed that our journeys are entirely different." 3. On his upcoming film Kanguva "I have made my Anabana fans wait for a year. You all have been patient with me. But with director Siva sir, we are coming up with a brilliant film. It will be a treat for all. Kanguva is coming out well." 4. On competition and life "It has taken a while for me to understand that life and career are not all about competition. One has to look at it as a wholesome experience. One has to look after his career, his family, his friends, and of course, the society. I thought I would do all this, but Karthi has beat me to it. He has been doing it all even before me." 5. Wishing Japan the best "I am a big fan of director Raju Murugan's work. Japan has come out well. It is Karthi's 25th film. My 25th was Singam (a blockbuster). I wish the Japan team a wonderful success." 6. On Rolex standalone film "Yes, I also heard it. After Dilli, it is Rolex, it seems. Let's see."
