Actors Vikram and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan won major awards at the SIIMA Awards 2024 for their performances in director Mani Ratnam’s epic historical action drama Ponniyin Selvan: II. Before their collaboration in the Ponniyin Selvan films, the two actors, who share a warm rapport off-screen, had previously worked together in Raavan/Ravanan (2010), also directed by Mani Ratnam.
On the second day of the SIIMA Awards ceremony, held on Sunday, the two stars were seen sitting together, with Aishwarya’s daughter Aaradhya Bachchan joining them. In photos that have since gone viral on social media, Aishwarya is seen beaming with laughter, while Vikram and Aaradhya gaze at her fondly. Another set of images showing Aaradhya taking photos of her mother as she accepts the Best Actress (Critics) award has also caught the attention of netizens.
Following the controversies surrounding the film, Nayanthara’s performance in director Nilesh Krishnaa’s Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food earned her the Best Actress award at SIIMA 2024. During the award presentation, her husband, director Vignesh Shivan, joined her on stage and the couple shared a romantic moment.
As Vignesh took the mic and shared a few words, Nayanthara was visibly moved and blushed with emotion. Vignesh also gave her a tender kiss on the forehead, winning audiences’ hearts. While Nayanthara dazzled in a sheer black saree with a heavily embroidered blouse, Vignesh Shivan looked elegant in an all-black suit.
