Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar made a cameo appearance in Rajinikanth’s Jailer, which has propelled him to another level of stardom. The actor appeared for about ten minutes in the film as a former convict named Narasimha, who helps the lead character Tiger Muthuvel Pandian (Rajinikanth). The role earned him a huge fanbase in Tamil Nadu, a new territory for the Kannada star. In a recent inteview, Shivarajkumar said that the role was life-changing.
Shivarajkumar told Galatta Plus, “When I went for an interview in Chennai, people at the airport started calling me Narasimha. I didn’t know a 10-minute role could change someone’s life this much. It was life-changing for me,” he said, and added, “I am happy with what people have given me here. Now, I feel that I am re-entering the world again. It was new. I am a hero shouldering a film in 80 scenes. But, I played an eight-minute role, and now they compare me to Vikram’s Rolex. I don’t know what’s happening.”
Narasimha indeed left a huge mark on the Tamil audience as they had never seen Shivarajkumar being menacing onscreen, which is something Kannada audiences have been used to for decades. In Tamil, Shivarajkumar will next be seen in Dhanush’s period film Captain Miller. The Kannada star is playing the antagonist in the movie, which is directed by Matheshwaran of Rocky fame. The film, also starring Priyanka Mohan, Sundeep Kishan, and Nivedhithaa Sathish, will be released worldwide in December.
On the other hand, Shivarajkumar is also awaiting the release of his much-anticipated Kannada film, Ghost, which will hit screens on October 19. Karataka Damanaka and Bhairathi Ranagal are the other projects in Shivanna’s kitty.
