Release date of Viduthalai Part 2 is out: Soori to cap off an eventful 2024 with the Vetri Maaran film
The second instalment of Vetri Maaran's Viduthalai, titled Viduthalai Part 2, starring Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, is set to hit the screens on December 20.

Before March 31, 2023, Soori was easily one of the most sought after comedians. Just in 2022, he was starring alongside the likes of Suriya, Karthi, Sasikumar, and Sivakarthikeyan in important roles, which also doubled up as the comic relief of sorts. But then, Vetri Maaran brought out the ‘actor’ in Soori through Viduthalai Part 1, and the actor’s career took a massive turn. Soori was not just a comedian any more. He was the protagonist. The hero. Soori went on to headline the blockbuster rural drama, Garudan, and Kottukkaali, the award-winning sophomore film of PS Vinothraj. By the end of this year, life would have come full circle for Soori as the film that launched him as a ‘hero’ is set to complete its journey in December. The second instalment of Viduthalai, titled Viduthalai Part 2, is set to hit the screens on December 20.
Based on Jeyamohan’s short story Thunaivan, Viduthalai Part 2 will be released in Tamil and Telugu. Even though it was mostly shot as a single film, there were few portions that were filmed after the release of the first movie. With the first film receiving critical and commercial acclaim, expectations are high for the second instalment, which will hopefully answer a lot of questions about the actions of many characters, including Vaathiyaar, played by Vijay Sethupathi.

Apart from Soori and Vijay Sethupathi, Viduthalai Part 2 also stars Chethan, Bhavani Sre, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Rajiv Menon, and Ilavarasu among others. The newer entries into the movie include director Anurag Kashyap in a pivotal role alongside Kishore, a Vetri Maaran regular. With music by Ilaiyaraaja, and cinematography by R Velraj, the film is backed by Elred Kumar’s RS Infotainment and Vetri Maaran’s Grass Root Film Company.
