Rajinikanth is on cloud nine as he joined hands with his mentor Amitabh Bachchan for his upcoming film Thalaivar 170. The film went on floors a few weeks ago in Kerala. Rajinikanth was busy shooting for the film in parts of Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Now, the actor is joined by Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan. Rajini took to Twitter to share a picture with Big B and shared it on Twitter.

Rajini wrote, “After 33 years, I am working again with my mentor, the phenomenon, Shri Amitabh Bachchan in the upcoming Lyca’s “Thalaivar 170″ directed by T.J Gnanavel. My heart is thumping with joy!”

The two Indian cinema icons acted together in the films Hum, Andhaa Kaanoon and Geraftaar. Hum, which was released in 1991, turned out to be their last collaboration. Now, after 33 years, the two have again joined hands for Thalaivar 170, which is directed by TJ Gnanvel, best known for his film Jai Bhim.

Other than the two legends, the film has Manju Warrier and Fahadh Faasil from the Malayalam film industry. From Telugu, the makers have roped in Rana Daggubati for a pivotal role. Ritika Singh and Dushara Vijayan are other actors part of the film, which has music by Anirudh Ravichander. Lyca Productions is bankrolling the film, which is expected to be released mid-2024.

Rajinikanth will then team up with Lokesh Kanagaraj for Thalaivar 171.
