Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi had a hush-hush wedding in 2018, leaving everyone surprised as they hadn’t even announced their relationship publicly. The actor couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in a gurudwara. Their sudden decision to get married was followed by the birth of their first child – daughter Mehr, a few months later. Now, in a recent podcast with Maneish Paul on his YouTube channel, Angad recalled their love story and opened up about how their friendship turned into a relationship and then marriage within years.
During the conversation, Maneish asked Angad in his own witty style as he said, “You slept a bachelor and woke up a married man. The news came out suddenly overnight.. which was amazing ya. So, when did you meet?” “There was a gym in Malcha Marg, Delhi, and they used to take me to gym with them. I had never seen a gym like that and I saw a fit girl running on the treadmill,” he replied.
Angad elaborated the moment he first saw her and shared, “She was wearing cycling shorts and running a lot. I saw her and my friends told me, ‘She is Miss India, Neha Dhupia is her name’. I said that she looks very fit and her running style is very nice. Then next day, we again went to see her in the gym, and then again on the third day. My father thought that why I was going to the gym after training, I should be resting. Then, we stopped going for some reason.”

Angad’s best friend, cricketer Yuvraj Singh played Cupid for the duo several years later. “After a few years, Yuvraj Singh, who is also my father figure and best friend, took me to a party in Mumbai. Neha was also present there, I saw her and greeted her. The bar closed and we shifted the after party to my house. We invited her and I spoke to her properly for the first time there. I shared with her that we used to go to the same gym,” he said.
The actor further added, “As luck would have it, I did a film called Ungli with Dharma, and she also did a part in it. We did another project – she called me for a role and I said yes because I only wanted to spend time with her. I used to wear my heart on my sleeve. The film was flip, had no value, it was senseless. During the shoot, I told her I like her and she should get married to her.”
After coming to Delhi, Angad Bedi asked for Neha Dhupia’s hand for marriage from her parents, but they left the decision to her. “I said, ‘I am no one, have no money, but I you will marry me then I will become something. She didn’t say anything and turned the conversation in another direction. I came home after that film and spoke to her parents that I want to marry their daughter. They were like, ‘You are such a nice guy, but you don’t even have a single rupee in your pocket and want to marry our daughter?’ I told them that is my intention, and they said that we’ll see.”

Destiny brought the couple together again, and this time, it was Karan Johar who suggested that they should be together. “We became good friends and started hanging out with each other. Later on, she went on her path and I went on mine. As destiny would have it, I used to go to Punjab to shoot for Soorma. She invited me for some Diwali party. She was trying to set me up with somebody else. I said that don’t waste my time, my diary is already very full. Karan Johar was also there,” he shared.
“Karan said, ‘You’re going places, you guys are meant to be with each other’. He was the one who got us together. He is a very important part of our lives. Things started changing after that, it changed so much that the engagement and wedding happened so fast. But, life is on a good track,” Angad wrapped up.
Angad Bedi and Neha Dhupia got married in a private ceremony on May 10, 2018, and got blessed with two children – daughter Mehr Dhupia Bedi (2018) and son Guriq Dhupia Bedi (2021).
