Superstar Rajinikanth is gearing up for the release of his much-awaited 170th film. The team of the Tamil actioner Vettaiyan held an audio launch on Friday, which also saw in attendance actor Rajinikanth. The screen icon not only gave a speech at the event, but delighted his fans with his impromptu dance moves with music composer Anirudh Ravichander. A video has emerged from the ceremony, which showed Rajinikanth in his element, grooving to the hit “Manasilayo” song from the upcoming film, which also stars Amitabh Bachchan in his Tamil debut.

The video showed Rajinikanth, 73, doing the hook step of the popular track along with the 33-year-old composer, whom he said is “like my son” at the audio launch. The video features Rajinikanth doing the hook step, and then hugging Anirudh, who bows down to touch the actor’s feet.

Anirudh has previously given chartbuster music for Rajinikanth starrer like Petta, Darbar and Nelson directed Jailer, which went on to become a huge blockbuster.

Vettaiyan is directed by TJ Gnanavel, who last helmed the acclaimed Tamil legal drama Jai Bhim, which starred Suriya. During the audio launch, Rajinikanth recalled telling the director to mount a film that “people would celebrate” as he doesn’t see himself in the “message space.”

“If you deliver a flop, there is tension because you’ll be expected to bounce back with a hit. Likewise, even after you make a hit film, then you’ll be expected to maintain consistency. That is the kind of tension that has built up after the hit of Jailer,” Cinema Express quoted Rajinikanth as saying.

Vettaiyan also stars Fahadh Faasil, Rana Daggubati, Manju Warrier, Ritika Singh, Dushara Vijayan and VJ Rakshan. The film also marks the screen reunion of Amitabh Bachchan and Rajinikanth, who last worked in the 1991 film Hum. Vettaiyan is set to release on October 10.
