Renowned South Indian actor Radhika Sarathkumar’s mother, Geetha Radha, has passed away. She breathed her last on Sunday evening owing to age-related health issues. The wife of legendary actor, MR Radha, Geetha had been battling deteriorating health for quite some time now, which eventually led to her demise. Now, videos showing an emotionally shattered Radhika struggling to hold back her tears as she stands next to her mother’s mortal remains have gone viral on social media.

Photos and videos that have surfaced online also show tears streaming down the face of a grief-stricken Radhika as mourners arrived at her mother’s residence in Poes Garden, Chennai, to pay their final respects to Geetha. Her younger sister, actor Nirosha, was also seen weeping profusely while speaking with veteran actor Nasser.

Taking to social media, the actor also shared adorable old photos of Geetha from the various phases of her life. While one of the photos featured Radha and Geetha on their wedding day, Radhika also shared a couple of pictures of her with her beloved mother. Expressing condolences, actor-director Suhasini Maniratnam commented under Radhika’s post on Instagram, “What a dynamic and kind lady. Will miss her goodness, kindness, and smartness. Great loss.”

While actor Sonia Agarwal wrote, “Sorry for your loss, ma’am… My heartfelt condolences @radikaasarathkumar… May her soul rest in peace,” actor-politician Sumalatha Ambareesh noted, “Dearest Rads, my heartfelt condolences. Thoughts and prayers with your family at your loss. Aunty was such a sweet soul and liked by everyone who knew her. Have fond memories of her and may her soul RIP. Love and hugs to you.” Yesteryear actor Lissy Lakshmi shared, “May her soul rest in peace. She was a dynamic lady.”

Geetha, a Sri Lankan Tamil, was MR Radha’s third wife. Radhika in an interview once mentioned that her mother was a strong and independent woman who played a key role in shaping the lives of both her and her sister Nirosha. While Radhika is married to actor-politician R Sarathkumar, Nirosha is married to actor Ramki.
