Gnanavel Raja on Suriya 42: ‘SS Rajamouli is the reason behind the film’s huge budget’
Producer Gnanavel Raja also spoke about the impact SS Rajamouli has created on south film industry.

Producer Gnanavel Raja of Studio Green, who has produced films like Paruthiveeran, Singam, Siruthai, and Madras, is teaming up with his frequent collaborator Suriya for a film, which is tentatively titled Suriya 42. In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, Gnanavel said the upcoming film is the most lavish project in Suriya’s career, and it is thrice the budget of his biggest movie until now.
The producer said, “After seeing the motion poster of the film by the director, I understood that I am not producing a normal film. This film is made on a budget that’s thrice the amount of Suriya’s biggest film so far.”
He added, “Even Suriya sir doesn’t know this because he will panic. He is careful about taking risks and affecting the producer and particularly when it comes to me, he is extra careful. So, we hid the budget from him. However, he knows from seeing the sets. He understands that we are up to doing something big visually.”
Gnanavel Raja then credited SS Rajamouli for opening the window for South filmmakers to become ambitious. “Be it Pushpa or Suriya 42 or any project from here, if it is making noise in Mumbai, it is because of Rajamouli sir. If he hadn’t done something like Baahubali, we have nothing to do in Bombay. The reason behind Suriya 42’s big budget is Rajamouli. If he hadn’t opened the window, we wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

Other than Suriya, the upcoming film has Bollywood actor Disha Patani making her debut in Tamil.
