Amaran has become one of the highest-grossing Tamil films of 2024, and has brought plaudits to everyone involved. It has been a major elevation for director Rajkumar Periasamy, who had a seven-year gap between his debut film, Rangoon, and Amaran. However, just after a week of the film’s release, Rajkumar has announced his next. After working with Sivakarthikeyan in Amaran, the filmmaker is set to helm Dhanush’s next, tentatively titled D55.

Backed by Anbuchezhiyan and Sushmita Anbuchezhiyan, D55 is the latest to join an impressive lineup of Dhanush films. The makers released the stills from the film’s launch. The event was attended by the producers, Rajkumar, and Dhanush.

In a post sharing the announcement about his next, Rajkumar wrote, “When good things happen, they happen in a row! Series of optimistic flow of feelings continue through. It will be D55 with one of the greatest performers of the country, A Powerhouse of talent, multifaceted Dhanush sir! Thank you Anbuchezhiyan sir and Sushmita Anbuchezhiyan ma’am of Gopuram Films for making this happen.”

Earlier in the day, Dhanush announced that his fourth directorial, Idli Kadai, which features him and Nithya Menen in the lead roles, is set to hit the theatres on April 10, 2025. Interestingly, the release date of his third directorial, Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, is yet to be announced. The film stars a bunch of young actors, including Anikha Surendran, Mathew Thomas and Priya Prakash Varrier.
